Angioinvasive follicular carcinomas are less well-differentiated than microangioinvasive carcinomas of the thyroid, permeate veins outside the capsule of the thyroid gland, and may infiltrate through the tumour capsule into adjacent thyroid parenchyma and extrathyroid tissues.
